| dc.description.abstract | La Stenotrophomonas maltophilia es un bacilo gram negativo ambiental emergente que ha venido posicionándose entre el grupo de microorganismos multirresistentes como causa de infección en diversos órganos en ambiente hospitalario y en la comunidad. Se reporta este caso de insuficiencia respiratoria con neumonía severa por S. maltophilia adquirida en la comunidad en una paciente inmunocompetente que tuvo una rápida respuesta a tratamiento con trimetoprim sulfametoxazol cuando se logró identificar la bacteria.
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emergent gram negative bacillus present in the environment. It has acquired relevance within a group of multidrug-resistant microorganisms as a cause of infection in different organs, both in hospitals and outside them. A case of respiratory failure with severe pneumonia due to S. maltophilia is reported. The immunocompetent patient got infected in the community and had a rapid response to trimethoprim sulphametoxazol once the bacteria were cultured. | es_ES |
